Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Yulo is an online platform designed to help users prepare for German language proficiency exams (Deutsch Prüfung). The service provides practice exercises in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, including AI-powered feedback on written and spoken responses.

By accessing or using Yulo, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the service.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you are between 16 and 18, you may use Yulo with parental or guardian consent. Users under 16 may not use the service.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate and up-to-date information during registration

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used fraudulently.

3. AI Feedback Disclaimer

Yulo uses artificial intelligence to evaluate and provide feedback on your practice responses, including writing corrections and speaking assessments. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated feedback is provided on an “as is” basis and may contain errors or inaccuracies.

AI feedback is intended as a learning aid and does not replace the judgement of a qualified language instructor or official exam evaluator. You should not rely solely on AI feedback to determine your exam readiness.

4. No Affiliation

Yulo is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to any examination body, including but not limited to the Goethe-Institut, telc, ÖSD, or TestDaF-Institut. All exam names and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

5. No Guarantee of Exam Success

Yulo is a practice and preparation tool. We do not guarantee that use of the service will result in passing any official German language examination. Exam outcomes depend on many factors beyond our control, including individual preparation, exam conditions, and the evaluation standards of the certifying body.

6. User Content

When using Yulo, you may submit text, audio recordings, and other content (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process, store, and analyse your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the service, including AI-based feedback.

You agree not to submit content that:

• Infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
• Contains unlawful, harmful, or offensive material
• Attempts to manipulate or abuse the AI feedback system

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, software, and materials on Yulo — including practice exercises, AI models, and interface elements — are owned by or licenced to Yulo and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the service without our prior written consent.

8. Payments & Refunds

Certain features of Yulo require a paid subscription. By subscribing, you agree to pay the applicable fees as displayed at the time of purchase.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period
• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis; please contact us at hello@yulo.app for refund requests

We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable advance notice.

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep Yulo available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime or service interruptions.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yulo and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or the service is limited to the amount you have paid to Yulo in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Content Accuracy & Exam Format Disclaimer

Our practice materials are independently created for educational purposes to help you prepare for German language examinations. They are not reproductions of official exam content. You acknowledge that:

• Practice questions, answers, and explanations may contain errors, typos, or inaccuracies despite our quality assurance efforts
• Official exam formats from telc, Goethe-Institut, TestDaF, and other examination bodies change periodically without notice — our materials may not always reflect the most current exam format or structure
• Human error may occur during content curation, translation, and question bank compilation
• Audio recordings, sample letters, and model answers may contain minor imperfections
• Grammar explanations or vocabulary usage may occasionally differ from certain regional or academic standards

Our liability for content inaccuracies, format discrepancies, outdated information, or errors in practice materials is limited in accordance with Section 10. If you are dissatisfied with the quality of our content, you may discontinue use of the service and, where eligible, request a refund under Section 8.

We encourage users to report any errors or inaccuracies to hello@yulo.app so we can continuously improve our content. We also recommend supplementing your preparation with official sample exams from your chosen examination body.

12. Data Protection & Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy. We process your data as necessary to provide the service and fulfil our contractual obligations to you. Where required, we will seek your explicit consent for specific processing activities as described in our Privacy Policy.

We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.

13. Termination

You may stop using Yulo and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or misuse the platform.

Upon termination, your right to access the service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes. You may request deletion or export of your personal data at any time in accordance with your rights under our Privacy Policy.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by German law. The courts of Germany have jurisdiction for disputes, subject to mandatory consumer protection provisions. We encourage you to contact us at hello@yulo.app to resolve any issues before initiating formal proceedings. The European Commission also provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and by email. If you do not agree with the revised terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect. Continued use of Yulo after the 30-day notice period constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
