Built by people in your shoes.

Yulo is made by a small, independent team: people who are learning German, sitting the exams and decoding official letters themselves. This page is about who we are and how we work.

01

Why Yulo exists

Yulo started the way most honest tools do: as something we needed ourselves. Preparing for telc Deutsch B1 meant juggling PDFs, photocopied mock exams and apps that stop one level too early. We wanted one place to practice every part of the exam, with feedback that explains itself.

So we built it. First for ourselves, then for friends, and now for everyone preparing for a German exam or for everyday life in Germany. The goal has not changed: realistic practice, honest scoring and no busywork.

02

Who builds it

Yulo is built by a small team based in Germany: one developer writes the code, and native speakers, tutors and other contributors review exercises, check translations and push back on anything that does not sound like real German.

We are independent and self-funded, with no ties to telc gGmbH or any examination institute. That independence is exactly why we can be blunt about what the exam demands and what it does not.

03

How we keep content accurate

Exam formats, timings and pass marks come from the official telc handbooks, not from memory. Where a page makes legal or administrative claims, for example about naturalization requirements, it links the official source next to the claim and reminds you to confirm the current rules with your local authority.

Every exam guide shows the date it was last reviewed. When rules change, the pages change: the 2025 amendments to German citizenship law are already reflected. If you spot something outdated, write to us and we will fix it.

04

Get in touch

Questions, corrections, feedback on a translation, or just want to say hello? Send us an email. A real person reads it, usually the person who wrote the code.
